    Wassuuuuuuuuuuup!

Hello hello hello. I know it’s been a year since the last post. During that time, I didn’t have updates worth sharing, until I developed SoundCloud-Player v1.5.0. This version introduces a new default theme, and this post documents the visual changes.

    Draft 1 - Getting Inspired

The first thing I wanted to do was change the size of the artwork and relocate buttons from the above of the artwork to below it. The idea of widening the artwork to the edge was inspired by my Walkman NW-S754. I also implemented a volume slider. As this is far better than having buttons to decrease/increase volume.

Compare to the previous version (image below), this already makes the extension cleaner and better in terms of intuition.

Draft 2 - Adding features and polishing.

It’s already close to the final draft. Here, I increased the gap between the title and the artwork, enlarged the buttons, and implemented the progress bar. Also, I was figuring out the size and the distance of each button (follow, shuffle, play, prev/next, repeat, favorite). At this point, the remaining tasks are thinning the progress bar and removing clutters (texts and <hr> tags).

    Final draft

    Voilà.

After all, I wanted to make a thumb inside of the bar, but I gave up :) Because this is… good enough.

    Afterthoughts

At this point, there’s not much point in keeping old default theme, but I decided to keep it anyway, under a different name: ‘legacy’.

    Compact - another theme.

    Legacy - old default theme.
